HAVE you ever had one of those days when you just can't do anything with your hair?

It's not something Peter Symonds student Marianne Weineck ever seems to have a problem with.

The Winchester college student got up at 3am on Monday (July 14) to turn her hair into a washing line for charity.

Marianne, 17, who is in her second year of studying art project design, maths and French, had the idea to raise funds for a trip to Moldova, where she will join others from her church which has links to a project to build a school.

The two-week trip in August is organised by Mission Direct.

She said: "The project has been running for a few months already, and we will be the last people going out there, so we may get to see the school being finished and refurbished.

"If so, then we will see what we can do in other ways to help the community."

Commuters were so impressed with her hairstyle on Monday as she made her way to the college, that Marianne collected £50 to top up donations from her fellow students for the £800 trip.

It isn't the first time she has created some imaginative hair designs.

Last year she had her hair shaped as a radish to raise cash for Comic Relief.

Marianne hopes to do an art foundation year and possibly study hat design at university when she leaves Peter Symonds.
