STUDENTS took on a 24-hour football challenge in which the winning team bagged 563 goals.

The Wellington Academy had 35 youngsters play a continuous game from 9am to fundraise for the school’s new indoor climbing wall.

The blue team scored 563 goals taking victory in the match by just one goal.

Teacher Richard Woodley said: “Tiredness kicked in and the students needed to be at their most resilient as dawn broke and the end neared.

“The top goal scorers for each year group were Jake Spencer with 31, Kai Edwards, 86, Bradley Read, 75, and Issi Kaba, 80, but a massive well done must go to everybody who took part in such a difficult challenge.”

The fundraising continued last week with a 24-hour netball challenge.
