A MAN was arrested after a police chase in the Ludgershall and Collingbourne Ducis area at the weekend.

Police say at about 4.15am on Saturday, 7 April a driver of a silver Ford Mondeo was seen acting suspiciously in the Ludgershall area.

Officers attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver continued at high speed.

A pursuit started with the driver travelling along the A342 towards Ludgershall, along the High Street and approaching the war memorial at the junction with Andover Road.

The vehicle then turned left on to Andover Road, travelling towards Andover, and overtook a number of vehicles at high speed on the wrong side of the road.

A short time later, the vehicle came to a stop and a 21-year-old man from Dorset was arrested on suspicion of drug driving, drink driving, possession of an offensive weapon, possession of a class A drug and failing to stop.

He has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

PC Jonathan Brunt said: “We would like to appeal for any drivers who were driving along Andover Road in Ludgershall at this time, who may have been overtaken by a silver Ford Mondeo to contact police to help assist our investigation.

"Any information you have, no matter how small, could really help our investigation.”
