THE Upper Clatford Village Hall once again hosted, with the assistance of Hampshire County Coun-cil’s Hog the Limelight programme, the ever popular string quartet, Ensemble Champagne.
Normally consisting of four women, on this occasion Emma – cello, Liz – violin and leader and Tammy – viola were accompanied by Dominic on violin. The hall was decorated and light to portray the atmosphere of a spacious living room.
The entertainment was in two parts with the first consisting of Corell’s Christmas Concerto followed by Haydn’s Quartet in D minor and after the interval the quartet performed music used in advertising, films and television productions.
The professional skill of the musicians was appreciated throughout the performance with the audience demanding an encore.
During the interval an assortment of hors d’oeuvres and delicate sweets, were offered to the audience.
The evening produced a feeling of well-being, shown in the comments given to the organisers by the audience as they departed.
