SIX fire crews tackled a blaze in Whitchurch for over three hours yesterday.
Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed attended a fire in a semi-detached building on London Road about 3.50pm and was out by 7.15pm.
Firefighters from Whitchurch, Overton, Basingstoke, Winchester, Rushmore and Newbury fought the fire, which started in the airing cupboard and spread to the roof.
The first floor was severely damaged by fire and smoke, and the ground floor was also smoke damaged.
The fire crews used two jets and two hoses to bring the fire under control, and 11 of the firefighters used breathing apparatus.
