MORE than 80 costumed competitors will be careening their way through Overton this evening.
Teams will weave their way through the village in wheelbarrows in the Overton Wheelbarrow Race to raise money for Overton United FC.
Competitors will take their places at Pound Road and race their way down towards the The Greyhound, The Old House at Home, The Overton Memorial Institute, The White Hart, The Red Lion before reaching the finish line party at Overton Recreation Centre on Bridge Street.
The party, which is free to all, will have a barbecue, a licensed bar and two bands, Acoustix and Riley K, will be help the crowds party into the evening.
Gary Savory, organiser, said: “This event is fantastic as it brings together the whole village, both young and old, in support of local sport.”
There were some impressive costumes on show last year, including characters from The Wizard of Oz, sunflowers, nuns, politicians and there was even a man dressed as Snow White, as crowds lined the streets to watch the teams compete.
The event starts at 7.30pm.
