STUDENTS in Hampshire are putting fashion centre stage with a series of events.

Aspiring designers from the University of Winchester kicked off the annual Winchester Fashion Week by showcasing their talent right on the High Street.

Fashion students armed with bags, shoes and colours galore gathered at L K Bennett to display their talent, taking over the window display to dress mannequins in their latest designs.

Manager at LK Bennett, Helen Waluga, said: “This is our second year doing it. I’ve worked quite closely with the university giving talks on my career, so it’s nice to see the students using our shop to showcase their work.”

Meanwhile students at Southampton Solent University are hoping to showcase their talents with plans for a fashion conference aimed at businesses in the city. The idea is being led by the fashion management and marketing department.
