FOR most of us Woolworth’s was a familiar sight on the high street which we had used since our childhood days to get a whole range of popular small items.
We regret the demise of another store in our town; but this seems a bit like losing an old friend!
However this letter is not about nostalgia. It is to express our thanks to the store manager and his staff for their help to the community.
The Andover Rotary Club and Round Table have been organising the very successful event “Fireworks at Thruxton” for the last eight years.
Woolworth’s has contributed to that success. Each year Woolworth’s staff have taken on the task of advance ticket selling.
Their help has made a substantial contribution to the financial success of the event as well as reducing congestion at Thruxton on the night of the event.
So thank you to Woolworth’s staff. We wish you well for the future.
As organisers of the fireworks event we would be very happy to discuss with any local retailer who could take on this valued role.
Ian Yeo, PRO, Andover Rotary Club.
