10:55am Monday 12th August 2013 in Sport
All three local teams lost their top flight matches this week in the Whitchurch and District Bowls League.
Andover B lost 48-51 to Howard Park A and have now slipped to sixth position after being top back in June while Andover A lost 50-63 to Alton and are now back firmly in bottom place.
St Mary Bourne Hawks also suffered a huge loss at Hyde Abbey 47-82 and slip to fifth.
In Division 2 St Mary Bourne Eagles regained their form to beat Marnell 53-45 and move up to fourth. Maurice Easton, Graham Smith and Brian Palmer had the highest rink winning margin for the week in this game (24-11).
Whitchurch Yellows lost only their second game of the season 44-49 at home to Old Basing Roundheads but hold onto top spot in Division 3.
Andover C had their Division 4 promotion hopes dashed when they lost 34-57 to the strong Basingstoke Diamonds, who are now league champions, and although they picked up half a point and remain second the teams below have games in hand. St Mary Bourne Merlins recorded another win 47-44 against Howard Park B.
