A late match in the Advertiser Cup team handicap competition saw Figheldean lose 8-1 to Test Valley A.

Test Valley knocked Figheldean out of the Weighill Trophy last year but this win was even more emphatic.

Matt Selwood won two but lost to Lionel Coles, while Oliver Raymond and Cameron Langdown both won three against very experienced opponents.

Enham moved top of Andover Table Tennis League Division 2 with a solid 8-2 win over Test Valley A. While Andy and Pete Farmer both won three for Enham, it was a harder match than they perhaps expected as Adam and Ray Lockington both beat Patrick Baker.

Adam played very well against Andy, just going down in the fifth game 11-4, 11-6, 7-11, 8-11, 11-2.

Matt had a ding dong battle with Val Fox before he won 7-11, 11-3, 11-13, 13-11, 11-9.

In Division 1 a two-man Tigers team took their lead over Pumas at the top of the table to eight points after beating Hanson B 7-3.

Both Malcolm Cummins and Andy Snelgrove won their three sets and combined to take the doubles in a very quick match.

Meanwhile Pumas were just good enough to secure a 6-4 win over Hanson C.

In form Richard Fettes won three and Ray Carver two for Pumas, while Andy Barnes won two for Hanson. Andy was well tested by Shaun Carver but came through 13-11, 10-12, 7-11, 12-10, 6-11, before losing to Richard in three games.

Shaun appeared to tire at the end of the evening and went down 11-5, 11-13, 8-11, 6-11, 4-11 to Nick George.

There then followed an exciting doubles which resulted in Richard and Ray losing to Andy and Nick 11-6, 7-11, 8-11, 11-3, 5-11.
