In Division 1 of the Andover Table Tennis League Wallop Wanderers were well beaten 0-10 by Pumas who snatched back a seven point lead over Tigers at the top of the table.

Danas Kairys, Richard Fettes and Shaun Carver all won their three sets.

Fifth-placed Hanson C saw off their nearest rivals two man Hanson B 8-2 with two wins each for Andy Barnes and Jamie Smith. Jamie Smith however, played exceedingly well to come back from two games down and win the set 4-11, 10-12, 11-8, 13-11, 11-9 against Trevor Whitelock.

Figheldean have been getting very good results lately and produced another when beating Hanson D 10-0. In a one-sided match Clive Hacker, Phil Cook and Lionel Coles all won three.

Hanson E of Division 2 lost 4-6 to 3D’s, despite Karl Jones winning all his three sets.

For 3D’s Marie Dyke and Nicky Downs won two each, supported by Jessie Yi with one.

Hanson E had a better result when they defeated Test Valley A 9-1. Karl Jones again won his three sets and was ably supported by his son Rhys who also won three.

Rhys did not have it too easy as he only just beat Adam Lockington 10-12, 13-11, 4-11, 11-4. 12-10. Adam went on to beat Jonny Macey 11-7, 13-11, 9-11, 101-12. 9-11.

Jonny won two of his sets after overcoming Matt Selwood 11-8, 8-11, 6-11, 11-8. 11-2.

Enham defeated Hanson F 8-2 with Andrew Farmer as usual winning his three and both Patrick Baker and Peter Farmer winning two each.

Roy Horner (Hanson E) did well to beat Pete Farmer in four hard fought games 11-8, 10-12, 6-11. 10-12 and Hanson’s other winner was young Luke Chattaway who is steadily improving every match and who battled valiantly to overcome the experienced Patrick Baker in five games 9-11. 5-11, 11-9, 13-11, 11-13.
