Whitchurch Utd 0 Bemerton Heath Harlequins 0.

Whitchurch, playing their first game for a month, went down to their worse defeat of the season to a Bemerton side that were sharper in possession, dominated the midfield and both took their chances and advantage of some poor defending by the home side.

On a surprisngly good surface both sides took a long time to get going with only Isaac Sedu’s pace on the Whitchurch right enlivening the proceedings and there was little excitement around either goalmouth.

Bemerton who made the breakthrough on the half hour when Seb Dawes beat Alex Thompson to a cross to put them ahead before Shane Locke fired wide at the other end.

The second half started in the worst possible manner for the home side as they gave the ball away in the opening minute allowing Sanger toshoot low past Thompson then Bemerton made the game safe with 20 minutes remaining as Danny Young to set up Slade for the third.

Within ten minutes three became four as substitute Tom Moseley provided the fiinishing touch at the far post.

Whitchurch’s only hope was the mist that quickly developed at one end of the pitch but even that blew away.

Graham Mankin blocked Tom Pemberton in the area and Bemerton departed with three deserved points – though there was a helping hand from their hosts.
