Andover AC’s men’s A team had a great Eastleigh 10k race, with Matthew Cook showing a clean pair of heels to his clubmates with a storming new PB of 34:04 for 45th place.

Mathew Dewey also recorded a new PB in 34:49 to finish in 84th. Solomon Lane ran hard in 36:45 and despite Rob Cliffe running faster (39:40), Lane got the nod in the same time of 36:45 on crossing the line ahead of Rob.

The B team was brought home by Dougie Brisco in 39:33 in 275th place, while Tim Bennett clocked 39:54 for 300th place and a new PB.

Steve Brett came in 304th place in 39:50 and Nick Price had a good run to round off the B team in 695th in 45:38.

For first time this season the men could boast a full C team, with Graham Cook 763rd followed home by Kelvin Mason in 775th in 46:44. Ian Oldacre was 1,112th in 50:04 and Jon Goulding 1459th in 54:10.

Not to be outdone, the ladies had two full teams out and Kay Noyce, returning after a bout of flu, ran hard to finish in 41:56 in 411th place.

Fay Wyatt had a solid race in 587th place and Janey Parker ensured the A team had a great result with a strong run in 47:47 for 882nd place.

The ladies’ B team were bought home by a jubilant Caroline Bennett who was able to break the 50-minute barrier by three seconds to finish in 1,072nd place.

Janice Cook was 1,456th, Kathy Lane 1,689th and Shelia Oldacre 2130th.
