Southampton Vets 7 Andover Diamonds 6.
Diamonds won the toss and the breakthrough came after three minutes through Alan Shaw. From the restart the game flowed before Southampton drew level. The home side pulled ahead from a penalty corner then on 25 minutes Richard Romer-Lee lifted a shot home but the last ten minutes of the half was not a quiet affair with both sides going flat out to score.
John Priestley-Cooper and Romer-Lee both scored well worked goals while Southampton pulled on back on the stroke of half-time.
Southampton equalised soon after the restart and during the next ten minutes the score moved to 5-6 and it was looking good for the Diamonds. But five minutes from the end Southampton found a chink in the Diamonds’ armour and scored twice to win the game.
