Dan Mason was recently selected to run for GB in his age group at the European Duathlon Championships.

The race, held in the small town of Horst in Holland involved 300 competitors from all over Europe.

Duathlon is a run, bike, run forma and the race was a mass start of all age groups and was crowded. Once on the bike Dan had to battle against strong winds and was pleased to finish the bike leg and start the second run.

He got stronger as the race went on and posted the fifth fastest time in his age group for the second run. In his own race he came 20th out of 29 starters and 114th across all.

Dan enjoyed his experience commenting: “This was my first outing for Great Britain in Duathlon. I enjoyed it but I think in future I will stick to Triathlon”.
