Whitchurch United Football Club celebrated their successful first season in the Wessex League Premier Division.

The annual presentation evening held at Longmeadow Sports Club was very well supported and mongs those who were present to share in the celebration were Cllr Mike and Jan Kean, the mayor and mayoress of Whitchurch along with representatives from the local businesses and the community.

The event started with a football match for the Anthony Nolan Charity with both teams fielding young as well as veteran players and all present thoroughly enjoyed the game and helped raise money for a very worthy cause.

The award ceremony got underway with chairman Brian Jackman taking the opportunity to thank all those who had helped and supported the club through the season.

The 2014 Whitchurch Awards winners were; Centre back Adam Pearson, who picked up two trophies on the evening, receiving the coveted Players Player award from his peers and also receiving accolades from his manager Jim Macey and receiving the Manager’s Player of the Year.

Fellow centre back Alistair Brown was honoured by the Jam Boys faithful and voted Supporter’s Player of the Year with Nic Turpin winning the Golden Boot Award.

This year’s Jackman Cup was sponsored by Barry and Sandra Jackman and presented to Isaac Sedu by deputy mayor Barry Jackman for his outstanding efforts this season.

The 2014 Whitchurch United Chairman’s Award went to club physio Kelly Rutledge who was thanked for everything she had done for the club and players not only this year but in previous seasons.

The Under 18’s, who finished second in the North East Hampshire Youth League Division 1 saw Player’s Player go to Jack Deery who also received the Captains Award.

Matt Soper took the Manager’s Award with Noah Young receiving the Supporter’s Award and Nathan Mountain winning the Golden Boot.

The Jam Boys are already preparing for the coming season with pre season friendlies against Metropolitan Police and Gillingham Town planned. Tuesday July 29 is scheduled for the start of pre season training and among others Adam Pearson, Ali Brown, Scott Hassell, Tom Lockyer and Shane Lock have all signed again.
