Amport II v Knights Valley.

A less than convincing four wicket win saw the Redcaps recapture that winning feeling.

A third winning toss in a row saw skipper Darren Goacher invite Knight's Valley to take use of the fine pitch at the Peacocks.

An increasingly frustrating opening stand of 46 saw Amport beginning to wonder when the first wicket was coming from until Jack Kent struck twice.

Wickets then began to fall regularly as Peter van der Westhuizen, league debutant James Fern and Goacher began to weave their web and a series of fine deliveries saw a regular procession of batsman returning to the pavilion.

Maximum bowling points were thwarted by the tenth wicket pair who concentrated on ensuring that Knights Valley batted out the 42 overs to finish on 134-9. Goacher ended up with fine figures of 4-25 from his ten overs and Fern was equally as frugal returning 2-27 from his stint.

Amport began the run chase with the feeling that the total should be well within reach but as seems usual so far this season the top order failed to fire.

Dan Cartridge and Martin Randall were soon both back in the pavilion followed soon after by van der Westhuizen leaving Amport struggling at 33-3.

A recovery of sorts was put in place as Robert Randall and Martyn Startup steadied the ship until Startup played round a slow, straight delivery.

Lee Burgess (19) took the score towards the hundred mark and at the other end Randall continued his fine form, and in the company of Kent looked to be steering Amport home until Randall was surprisingly stumped for 33.

Kent selectively hit out at the bad ball to score a rapid 34 not out to secure a six wicket victory in the 30th over.
