Hampshire Premier League Division One side Andover Lions are quietly preparing for the new campaign and assistant manager/secretary Chris Paris says he is pleased that the core of last season's team have committed to the club for another season.
“It is looking good for the new season and Ray Cozze and myself are both delighted that the bulk of the squad are staying with us as we again chase promotion.”
Striker Casson Spencer has turned down several offers to stay with the Lions who have arranged pre season friendlies against Downton on July 12 and Poole Borough on August 9 and are currently trying to agree dates with Shrewton and Winchester City Res.
Chris added: “We are continuing to plan for the future and are in the process of putting together a bigger committee to help develop the club over a five year period and would welcome contact from anyone who feels that they would be able to offer help and assistance in this or any other matchday capacity.”
New kit is on its way, courtesy of sponsors MA Hinton Roofing and the club were also helped by being one of several recipients of financial help following a boxing night held recently at the Masonic Hall which raised many for a number of clubs and charities.
The provisional constitution of the league has been published and sees a new club, AFC Petersfield, join Division One.
Lions will play Broughton, Cadnam United, Four Marks, Infinity, Lyndhurst, Michelmersh and Timsbury, Netley Central Sports and Upham as well as possibly champions Bush Hill who have been denied promotion by the league due to ground grading problems but have appealed against the decision.
Also there are question marks over Bournemouth Sports and Infinity FC, who have lost several players to lenghthy suspensions after incidents at a game with Broughton at the back end of last season.
Overton United remain in the Premier Division alongside Stockbridge and the provisional line up for that division is: AFC Stoneham, Baffins Milton Rovers, Bush Hill/Bournemouth Sports, Clanfield, Colden Common, Fleetlands, Hamble Club, Headley United, Hedge End Rangers, Liss Athletic, Locks Heath, Otterbourne, Overton United, Paulsgrove, QK Southampton, Stockbridge, Winchester Castle.
