East Woodhay v Whitchurch.

Whitchurch’s poor start to the season continued when they visited high-flying East Woodhay on Saturday.

After winning the toss the skipper Tom Trinder had no hesitation in choosing to bat on a good looking pitch but the decision backfired as a clatter of early wickets reduced them to 7-3 which quickly became 51-7.

Eddie Treble with 38 and James Hayward (34no) put up some resistance but the last three wickets fell in four balls as Whitchurch were all out for just 91.

In reply the home side were given a flying start by Bird (46) and Laurance (34 no) before a couple of quick wickets fell but East Woodhay ran out comfortable winners by seven wickets.

Treble picked up 2-15 and Richard Osmond took 1 –16 in a game to forget for the local side who are hoping that things can turn round this weekend when they host St Cross.
