Lashings of talent hits Andover this Sunday

Lashings CC have confirmed their team to play against Andover this Sunday June 29 with a 3pm start, to battle it out for the Naomi House Cup. And what a side it is...

Their captain will be England legend, Phil DeFreitas and he has a gun side to unleash on the Andover first XI.

The star-studded batting line up includes South Africa's Herschelle Gibbs, famous for his T20 batting prowess and ability to hit the ball out of the ground, former England captain John Emburey, New Zealander Scott Styris, who holds the record for one of the fastest T20 hundreds, reaching it in just 37 balls for Sussex, and former Australia all-rounder Ian Harvey, not shy of launching a ball for six either.

As if that fire-power wasn't enough, their bowling consists of one of the fastest bowlers on the circuit at the moment, Yassir Arafat, skipper DeFreitas, Devon Malcolm, West Indian Corey Collymore, former England international Martin Bicknell, swing merchant Ed Giddins and spin duo of Saqlain Mushtaq (the 'inventor' of the doosra). Even Harvey and Styris could turn their arm over if required, both having international bowling pedigree and slower balls that will bamboozle the ACC batsmen.

Should be a good test for ACC...

Tickets are £5 for over 16s and free for U16s and can be purchased on the day at the gate, which opens at noon. The Andover line-up looks familiar with Mike Adams leading his men out to battle. With auction winner John Moss opening up with their very own record holder David Taylor, it could be an interesting day for the Lashings' bowlers. Glyn Treagus will use his experience to guide the middle order with overseas gun Byron Haycock. The bowling could prove tricky for the All Stars too as Adams, Taylor, Luke Graham, and Ed Duckworth will threaten with their seamers, while Danny Foy and Treagus will be a handful with their spinners.
