Andover Town and Andover New Street begin their pre season with a low key friendly at Sparsholt College tomorrow evening at 6.45pm Holidaying Town boss Neil Benson temporarily handed over the reins to son Lewis this week and he will be overlooking the squad in training as they move on to play Amesbury Town, once more at Sparsholt this Thursday, again at 6.45pm.

Two days later they will send a side to play at Hampshire Premier League Winchester Castle, ko 2pm before a trip up the M3 to play Ashford Town (Middx), who have just rejoined the Combined Counties League, on Friday July 25.

Finally a day later a squad will go to Hamworthy United to play a mixed Wessex and Wyvern League side ahead of the Blackfield and Langley opener.

Benson’s youth squad make their FA debut this season and in the FA Youth Cup 1st Qualifying Round they have been drawn at home to Fleet Town.

New Street boss Paul Reidy has been frustrated this week as Hellenic League Newbury Town pulled out of tomorrow’s friendly as they are unable to raise a side and so his squad now wait until tomorrow week when they go to Western League Corsham Town.

Tuesday July 22 sees them up the A303 to play another Western League side in Gillingham Town.

The club have not entered the FA Cup or FA Vase this season but in the Hamphsire Senior Cup 1st Rd have a tough tie at Hartley Wintney with the winners away again, at FA Trophy runners-up Gosport Borough.

The draw for the Russell Cotes first round gives New Street an way tie at Overton United but as that side do not have lights the game will almost certainly be at Foxcotte Park
