Penton v Knight Valley.

For the first time this season, Barry Kavanagh won the toss and put Penton in to bat.

Openers John Hunter (42) and Richard Jenson (42) hit 17 fours between them and pushed the score up to 80 when Jenson was bowled by Kevin Finlay. Hunter was out shortly afterwards, off the bowling of Finlay, with the score pushed up to 97 with some big hits by Bevon Joseph (18). Paul Stanford kept the total moving, but Neilon Liam Joseph (35) hit three sixes and two fours to push the score up to 152, when he was caught off Finlay.

Kerry Charles (64) pushed the total past 200 with a 45 wicket partnership with Martin Patrick (11), which included four fours and six sixes and Penton finished on 231 all out. Best bowling was by Finlay whose seven wickets was the highest seen this year.

Knights Valley were nervous when they saw the rapid bowling of Joseph (1-8) but it was Barry Kavanagh (4-21) who caused the rapid collapse. At 28-5 Patrick (2-17) and Stanford (2-13) kept the wickets falling. Only opener Dan Keyworth (12) and Christopher Baxter (13) were able to get double figures, but the biggest applause came for 11th man Josh Finlay, who got his first run of the season, but was run out with the score at 64.

Penton are away next to Amport II, which should be an exciting top of the table challenge.
