Andover Bowls Club’s finals day produced some fine bowling and close games for the members watching to enjoy.
In the mixed two woods, James Frieno beat Peter Anthony 14-13 while in the mixed drawn pairs Chris Sutton and George McLaughlin beat Cliff Appleby and Rosa Driver 27-10.
In the mixed handicap Ann Eaton beat Ken Eaton 22-16 and in the mixed novices Frieno beat Brian Jenner 21-11.
In the ladies’ singles championship Jackie Kingston beat Cynthia Hamilton 21-15 and in the men’s Peter Anthony beat Dennis Fowler. The club’s Whitchurch League teams played for the Spencer Trophy in the annual competition for the club’s three teams.
Th winners this year were Andover’s B team.
In the Basingstoke and District Mens Rinks League Andover made the trip to Kingsclere needing a good result to avoid relegation but were beaten 5-0 and will be in Division Two next season.
The final competition of the year will be held on Sunday.
