JODY Morgan's Seconds felt the full force of a well drilled and powerful Havant II last Saturday.

The visitors’ first team play two divisions above Andover, so it was unsurprising that this was to be a tough encounter. Andover didn't help themselves by starting the game with just 14 players, due to a car load of young colts being delayed and found themselves 19 points down within the first 10 minutes.

As Andover came up to full strength the game started to settle down, and with powerful runs from both props, Craig Allen and Sam Earle, Havant quickly learnt the only way to stop the advance was to starve the powerful pack of ball.

As more tries headed Havant’s way the game became more about pride than a score and in an almost trademark finish to the half, Andover pinned the visitors to their try line but were unsuccessful in getting points on the board.

The second half started well until a yellow card saw young Joe McNewell sin binned in injuries followed and the bench was called into action.

The fresh legs of Morgan and Hywell Inglis helped but the game was more than out of reach.

Andover refused to give up, but it was Havant who walked away worthy winners.
