PUMAS stretched their lead at the top of Division 1 when they completed wins over Hanson Dolphins 26-7 and Hanson Cougars 23-14.

Richard Fettes (Pumas) continued his 100 per cent record by winning his three sets against both opponents, which included an excellent win over current singles champion Andy Barnes (Cougars), who had to settle for just two wins on the night and the loss of his perfect record.

Shaun Carver (Pumas) claimed three against Dolphins but managed only one against Cougars, being beaten by both Andy and Steve Harris. Luckily for Pumas, Ray Carver played very well to record two wins against Cougars, but he had three really tight games against Nick George before winning 11-13, 11-13, 10-12.

For Dolphins both Dom Raymond and Mike Cartridge recorded good wins over Danas Kairys.

Dolphins also went down to Figheldean 28-7, for whom Phil Cook, Lionel Coles and Julie Dean all won three. Rob Macey (Dolphins) worked hard to take Dean to five sets before losing 9-11, 14-12, 6-11, 11-9, 6-11.

Division 2 leaders Three D’s convincingly defeated Test Valley A 30-2.

Marie Dyke, Nicky Downs and Brian Dyke all won three, but the youngsters from Test Valley fought hard against their more experienced opponents.

Brian Dyke, who coaches the Test Valley players, was pushed hard with Cameron Langdown and Oliver Day both taking a game off him.

The closest match of the week was between Hanson Lions and Hanson Falcons, which resulted in a 19-17 victory for Falcons. Karl Jones (Lions) lost his 100 per cent record when Falcons bought in Paul Lloyd, who won all his three sets in three games.

Sarah Medland (Falcons) won two, but was forced to go to five games against Mike Bonarius, before winning 11-5, 8-11, 11-6, 5-11, 5- 11.

Lions recorded one win apiece for Mike and Darren Walkom, with Karl winning two.
