Andover Ladies 2 Basingstoke Ladies 2

BASINGSTOKE travelled to Andover full of confidence as they are top of the league with a 100 per cent record.

Andover knew they had a task on their hands but with an unchanged team for the first time this season were buoyed by last week’s victory.

They started strongly with high energy attacks and maintaining a large percentage of the possession however, it was Basingstoke which took the lead, which was quickly doubled.

Andover would usually capitulate at this point, but a determined side fought back with two well worked goals. Ellie Ingram scored first after Anika Drage’s initial shot rebounded off the post. Bel Penfound equalised in the second half following an excellent cross field pass from Lizzie Vincent.

Basingstoke could have won the game when they were awarded a penalty stroke, which they placed wide.

Andover Ladies II 3 Portsmouth & Southsea Ladies 2

ANDOVER Ladies II continued their good run with a hard-fought victory against a competitive Portsmouth and Southsea side. The game was very end to end and played at a frantic pace throughout.

Andover dominated in the early stages and took a deserved lead when Jacqui West skilfully set up Emily Lord to slot the ball home. They had chances to double their lead as both Holly Scott and Sally Prior went close before a breakaway resulted in an equaliser for the away team.

The Ladies II are playing with a confidence and belief which saw them take the lead before half-time. Prior made an excellent run and pass through to Ash Miller who slotted past the advancing keeper at the second attempt.

Andover were indebted to their defensive team at the back especially Jodie Williams who had an excellent game. Louise Cuff went close from a short corner before West and Lord linked up again to put Andover 3-1 up. Player of the match Dana Shelley made three outstanding saves in quick succession before Portsmouth and Southsea snatched a last minute goal.

Yateley Ladies III 2 Andover Ladies III 0

ANDOVER Ladies III put up a good fight against the league leaders with excellent displays from Tiff Fish, Amie Bridge, Immy Collins and Becca Farndell-Thorne in defence. Charlotte Grimsey also added a touch of class after coming on halfway through the first half, intercepting a number of Yateley passes.

Andover were denied a goal from Bridge as it was judged as being too high when hit from a penalty corner, However, the girls continued to press, putting Yateley under a lot of unexpected pressure.

Yateley didn’t hold back and proved why they are top of the league by putting two past the keeper after a fast paced battle from Katy Evans, Emma Helsdown, Hannah Copping and Jojo Hart in midfield. The result leaves Andover fourth in the table.
