STOCKBRIDGE’S recent winning ways came to an end last Saturday when they lost 2-1 at the Overton Recreation Centre in the Hampshire Premier League.

Jazz Beavis was unlucky not to score for the Robins on 16 minutes but his shot was cleared off the line by an Overton defender.

The first half was end to end stuff with Overton creating more chances towards the end of the half but the Stockbridge defence kept them at bay.

Chris Lavisher, Luke Neller and Dave Parry all went close for Overton before Beavis appeared to be brought down by Overton goalkeeper Sean O’Brien, but the penalty appeals were turned down.

Jack Hutchings’ shot went just wide right on the whistle of a goalless half.

In the second period Beavis set up Hutchings to score and put Stockbridge 1-0 up on 50 minutes but 15 minutes later Nick Jupp equalised.

From there on it was a scrappy half until minutes from time when Laith Aldoori let fly from 25 yards to clinch the win for the home side.

Overton joint manager Jamie Fewtrell said: “The lads were up for it as we had already beaten Stockbridge In the league and cup.

“We made most of the early running and were spraying the ball impressively from wing to wing and playing neat and concise football, but again we could not find the net.

“The second half was tough as both teams showed they had some quality and the game became very open.”
