ANDOVER Darts Academy held their annual awards evening at the Wolversdene Club, where Shane Reidy was made a member of Generation 180 for the year.
In the presence of Unicorn Darts managing director Edward Lowy, chairman Mark Thorne opened the event with an emotional speech thanking everyone for attending and expressing thanks to all the youngsters for all their efforts during 2014.
He also thanked all the coaches and Steve Murphy and the Wolversdene committee for their continued support.
A DVD was then played to collate many old and late memories before thanks went to the Academy’s Glen Dawkins and Lowy for presenting awards on the night.
There were many highlights from the evening, which included a gift to Mark Thorne from junior captain Liam Whitehorn to thank him for helping him through his dartitus and being there for continued support.
This was just one occasion when Thorne was reduced to tears after receiving a standing ovation from everyone for all his hard work and commitment to the Academy, which is almost into its tenth year.
