Andover and District netball round-up

Stortex 44 Carmel 16 BOTH teams had a strong start even though Carmel were missing a player which gave Stortex the edge throughout.

Natalie Parks made a number of good interceptions which were converted back to Fliss Knight with accurate finishing.

Carmels centre court was covered by Clare Poole despite the shortfall.

Andover Arrows Y 14 ACES 31 ACES got off to a flying start in the first half thanks to accurate shooting from Kerry Barton. Julia Middleton was active in the centre third and kept play smooth. Arrows came back in the second half as Jade Peters took back control for her defence.

This was however too late to catch up their opponents healthy lead.

Evans & Partridge 32 Pentagon Mercedes 2 16 POOR weather conditions didn't stop this game gaining speed.

PM took an early lead scoring the first three goals with confidence.

E&P then clicked together and held the front position for the rest of the match.

Chloe Davis had a great match in defence although the Cheryl Green and Lorna Harvey partnership were unstoppable, giving E&P a well-earned win.

Abbotts Ann 18 FMonline 23 THE first quarter saw both teams even and only two goals separating them by half time. Tina Charlesworth had a difficult role as FMOL's shooters Maxeen Whayman and Emma Walker found their zone and began to pull the score away.

AA were missing their usual shooter which left Katie Charlesworth in control of the D which she did confidently as both teams played competitive netball.

Burbidges 24 Ken White Distributions 34 Burbs flew into the lead with a quick succession of goals from Debbie Robinson and Sheila Stone.

This left a bewildered KWD 9-3 down at quarter time.

A change of positions saw Ali Oliver-Avis come back into Wing Attack and strike up the usual partnership with Helen Harkess which had a dramatic result and pulled their team back to 14-16 by half time.

Play remained fast, despite poor conditions, with Lyndsey Pratt playing an energetic game in centre court.

This did not, however, deter KWD as all the players pulled together despite many of them being out of their usual comfort zone and playing unfamiliar positions. Jo Mussell and Julie Boddy made good opponents in centre court during this competitive yet friendly match.

Andover Arrows P 31 ACES 2 Arrows defence were truly phenomenal during this match as they only conceded two goals which must be an ADNA record! They left ACES in no mans land after the first quarter with no goals being scored from then on. Betsy Tuffrey appeared all over the court to take possession of the ball in this on sided match. ACES never gave up despite the barrage of interceptions and rebounds against their young attack.
