OVERTON battled hard but were not able to come back from being 4-0 at half-time to third-placed Otterbourne on Saturday.

The visitors made all the early running spraying the ball impressively from wing to wing and playing neat and concise football and Overton could not cope with the early pressure and within 12 minutes another defensive mistake gave Tom Sands his first goal.

Straight from the restart Otterbourne gained possession back and another mistake gave Tom Wright the second before Sands made it 3-0 around the half hour.

Overton had started to settle and were playing the better football a rash challenge gav e Tom Richards a penalty which he converted to make it 4-0 at the break and all four gifted to them.

Joint manager Jamie Fewtrell said: “ We showed more commitment then and started to play the type of football we know we can but again that finishing touch in front of goal was missing.”

Otterbourne were trying to slow the game down but Overton had other ideas and finally got a goal back when substitute Mike Pemberton worked hard to win the ball on the edge of the box and made it 4-1 with seven minutes left.
