FM ECLIPSE Netball Club are used to the taste of success, dominating local netball across much of Hampshire.

And five of their members have also enjoyed success with the British Army netball squad.

Against tough competition, the FM athletes, playing in the British Army’s Open and Development squads, won both Inter-Services netball competitions beating the Royal Navy and RAF.

FM captain Laura White and players Samantha James, Charlie Winship, Syreeta Cranston-Walters and Leanne Gledhill were part of the Army squad retaining both titles.

White, who captained the squad, was quick to acknowledge the part her clubmates had played in the success.

“Being a member of FM Eclipse has been a tremendous value to me, not only the regular, exceptional quality training but the fixtures which are at the high standard required to succeed in Army netball.

“Despite being a small club, it is filled with like-minded people who want to train hard to enable us to put the best performance out week in week out in. This has culminated in winning the Premier Division in the Basingstoke League and a top-four finish in the competitive Hampshire League.

“With plenty of tournament play planned for the spring and a summer league to look forward, together with a few social events, it provides the perfect friendly yet competitive sporting environment.”
