Stockbridge FC had the perfect way to end their season by beating Andover New Street Swifts 3-1 at Longmeadow (the home of Whitchurch Utd FC) in a fast and furious thriller of the Andover and District Open Cup Final tonight.

Early pressure from Stockbridge saw a good header from Ashley Childs denied by the Swifts goalkeeper. Childs also shot just over the crossbar on 10 minutes. Stockbridge goalkeeper Dan Kempson was called into action minutes later.

Stockbridge went 1-0 up on 15 minutes with a well taken goal from David Cotter. A good pass from Jamie Pollard to Childs saw the latter fire over. Stockbridge went and then 2-0 up on the half hour. Hamilton’s pass found Childs, on the edge of the penalty area who struck it nicely into the back of the net.

It was 3-0 on the brink of half time as Danny Field passed to Jack Hutchings just inside the penalty area, allowing Hutchings to turned and scored to make it 3-0 on the brink of half time.

Just seconds into the second half Childs had a shot over the crossbar. Kempson made a good save at the other end a minute later.

Five minutes into the half Swifts got a break and opened up the Stockbridge defence and found the net to make it 3-1.

A bit of sloppiness from Stockbridge in the midfield department gave Swifts a bit of confidence for 10 minutes but from then on Stockbridge were back on top.

Hutchings headed just over the bar from a corner by Hamilton on 65 minutes. Jacob Marsh came on as sub for Hamilton on 72 minutes.

A good pass from Field from the half way line found Beavis in the penalty area but it hit the crossbar. Mike Barker came on for Childs on 80 minutes.

Substitute Mike Barker's first touch of the ball was a shot that went just over the crossbar. A minute later Nathan Rae hobbled off with a nasty injury from a knock and was replaced by Dean Smith.

Andover Swifts worked hard but in the end Stockbridge should have won by more.
