An Ashley Tattersall goal midway through the first half was enough to secure Fareham a priceless win as it keeps them in the Premier Division.

In front of a good attendance of 130 at the Portway, including a contingent from Fareham, Town had the first showing and from a fine run by Jordan O’Donnell, Craig Blakeman’s shot was deflected and hit the post for a corner. The home side couldn’t find a way through but were close until with 20 minutes on the clock Fareham’s Bradley Norton was denied by Michael Weatherall in the Andover goal but his parry was gleefully put away by the busy Tattersall. However, Andover weren’t there to make up the numbers and minutes later after some neat football Cameron Hough’s shot brought a fine save from Luke Douglas.

With half an hour gone Lewis Benson brought out the very best in Douglas then the other end Tattersall went close. After the break Fareham’s shooting was erratic and Andover began to settle and the ever threatening Michael Dixon was upended but the referee ignored his pleas.

Benson’s corner was scrambled away then he found Alex Dockree, whose shot was again saved by Douglas who was again called into action when he turned a Cameron Hough free-kick for a corner. The visitors continued to break away and they thought they had a second goal after a complete mix-up in the home defence but the goal was adjudged to be offside. It mattered little as Fareham’s win meant Premier football and Andover’s season ended with a 12th place finish.
