A LONGPARISH amateur golfer is a step closer to representing his country after he won the Salisbury Audi Invitational this week.
Richard West won the 18-hole stableford competition held at High Post Golf Club on Wednesday, beating off his rivals with a score of 39 points.
The result means Mr West will now team up with a fellow winner to take on the Regional Final at The London Club in Kent in August.
The top 18 “pairs” from the seven regional competitions will then go forward to the Audi Quattro Cup Final held at Bowood Golf & Country Club in Wiltshere in September.
If Mr West makes it through to the final two pairs he will then represent Great Britain at the Audi Quattro Cup World Final held in Mexico later this year.
The competition, which is in its 25th year, is the world’s largest amateur golf competition with almost 100,000 players from over 50 countries competing.
