The men’s first team travelled to Ryde to play a Hampshire Division 2 match.

The match was very close with first pair Anthony Brown and Hallam Doney winning two of their three matches and the second Andover pair of Martyn Isherwood and Andrew Winnett also winning two of their three matches.

The Ryde first pair was very strong and remained undefeated all afternoon.

Unfortunately the young pair of Alex Lee and Jacob Webb were unable to clinch a win, so Andover lost by 5 matches to 4.

Alex Lee and Martyn Isherwood turned out again the following morning in a Basingstoke League Division 1 match against Kingsclere.

Lee partnered Robbie Hadfield and Isherwood partnered George Beare.

Kingsclere are top and Andover lost, with Isherwood and Beare winning only one set and Lee and Hadfield no sets. Andover lost 1-7.

The ladies Hants and IOW team played Virgin Active from Southampton on Sunday.

Unfortunately only two pairs from the opposition showed up due to a last minute injury.

Andover’s first pair Georgia Moon and Claire Reid won 6-0, 6-1 against the first pair, 6-3, 6-4 vs the second pair.

Results of Andover’s second pair Kate Sloan and Sarah Rolfe vs 1st pair: 3-6, 6-3 1-0.

Kate and Sarah showed great determination and grit in a nail biting championship tie-break, coming back from 7-3 down to win the tie break 10- 8.

Results against the 2nd pair 7-5, 6-1.

Andover’s 3rd pair Jennie Pope and Gilly Higgs won against the1st pair 7-5 7-6 and against the 2nd pair 7-5 6-1.

Both played really well and consistently throughout the matches with determination and resilience.

This leaves the Andover team third in Division 2 with all to play for.

The Andover Under 16 team travelled to Denmead to play a Division 2 match in the Aegon League.

Captain Gregor Corcoran won his singles match 6-3, 6-1. Tom Lee also won his singles match 6-4, 6-4.

Michael Cooke won the first set 6-3, lost the second 3-6 and lost the deciding tie break 7-10.

Chris Gregory lost his singles 6-2, 6-2 in a match that was closer than the score suggests.

In the doubles round Corcoran and Lee won 6-1, 6-4, but Cooke and Gregory lost 2-6, 5-7.

At three rubbers each a deciding 10-point tie break was played with one player from each pair.

Corcoran and Cooke came from 3-6 down to win the shoot-out and the match 10-6.
