TEST Valley Golf Club raised nearly £5000 during their annual charity competition last weekend.

The course was in fine condition and 18 teams of four battled in a strong wind for the Andover Golfing Society Charity Shield, presented by Langdowns DFK.

In addition there were plenty of individual challenges, including a prize for the best aggregate points on the par threes.

In the evening, following an excellent meal, Roger and Sandy Scrivens and Bob Cradduck addressed the gathering on the work of SUDEP – Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy – the captain’s chosen charity for the year.

The ‘pot’ benefited from entries, hole sponsorship, a fantastic raffle table, an auction of golfing vouchers at various clubs, high quality wine and stays at holiday apartments in Devon and Portugal.

Fines for wayward shots contributed to a total of £4,900.

Captain Sean Canham said: “I would like to thank all those who entered this competition and the sponsors, donors, and bidders for their generous support.”
