TWO of the area's highest ranked football teams will go head-to-head in the Wessex Premier League tonight in what promises to be a mouthwatering local derby.

Andover Town and Whitchurch United will face off at the Portway this evening with both teams coming off the back of comprehensive wins at the weekend.

Town completed a 7-2 rout of fellow Wessex Premier League side Fawley in the FA Vase on Saturday while the Jamboys romped to a 3-0 win over Hamworthy United.

6th place Town, who sit six places above their local rivals in the league, will be hoping home advantage will give them in an edge in what should be an attacking encounter between two forward thinking sides.

However United have already claimed a big scalp on their travels this season clinching a shock 2-1 away win over Salisbury City last month, so Town will need to be wary of their strength on the counter.

The game kicks off at 7:45pm tonight at the Portway Stadium with gates open an hour before.
