ANDOVER Ladies were once again on the wrong end of a result despite playing well in their 2-1 home defeat to Eastbourne Ladies.

Andover started brightly and pressed the away side well, forcing Eastbourne to play the long ball.

However, it was Eastbourne who took the lead when a ball wickedly deflected off an Andover defender and into the goal.

The away side went into half-time with their slender lead, but Andover soon equalised after the restart through Lizzie Vincent.

It looked as if Vincent had given Andover the lead shortly after but her shot was kicked off the goalline, with the referee not awarding a penalty corner.

Andover then had to face a harsh penalty decision at the other end which was fantastically saved by goalkeeper Hazel Stacey.

The game looked likely to end as a draw but some lapse defending in the closing minutes allowed Eastbourne to score and take all three points.

Meanwhile the Ladies Seconds had a much better day, winning 3-2 away at Havant Thirds.

Andover took the lead when Chloe Franklin picked out Sally Prior who calmly slotted home the opening goal.

Havant equalised through a quick break from a stray pass before scoring another shortly after to take a 2-1 lead going into the break.

After the interval, Franklin again provided a golden opportunity with a brilliant pass that found Janette Griffiths Jones who struck the ball fiercely to equalise for Andover.

Jones scored the winner a few minutes later after some good work from Louise Cuff, earning Andover their fourth win in five games.

Andover Mens also earned a 3-2 victory last weekend at home to Fareham Thirds.

Andover dominated early on but it was Fareham who opened the scoring after the ball found the back of the goal following a scrap in the D.

The home side responded well and Max Romer-Lee soon equalised from close range.

Sam Goacher then put Andover ahead, getting on the end of a well worked move.

Half-time came with Andover controlling the game at the pace and tempo that they wished to play.

Romer-Lee then doubled Andover’s advantage with 15 minutes to go, producing a bursting run to get into the D to coolly slot past the wrong footed keeper to give Andover a convincing lead.

Fareham came back into the game and scored a cheap goal towards the end of the game but Andover held out to secure an important win.

Andover Seconds also secured a victory, winning 5-0 away at Southampton Uni Seconds.

Having been promoted last season, Andover found their first two games a struggle but finally found their feat in this match.

Mo Jones opened the scoring before Ship scored two to put Andover 3-0 up at half-time.

Daly made it four after the break and Payne rounded of the scoring and seal an impressive win.
