AN ANDOVER schoolgirl has achieved two major successes in her favourite sport of squash.
Olivia Beasant, 11, recently won the Southampton University junior tournament in the Under 15 category.
This set her up for the British Junior Squash Championships in Manchester which took place the week after, where although unseeded, Olivia upset the proceedings by defeating the 10th seed.
Olivia’s good form continued as she recorded another impressive victory over the fifth seed.
She eventually finished the tournament in eight place from a 30 draw and the points from these events have now helped to improve her current national ranking to eleventh in the country.
She said: “I was more than excited after beating a seed in my first match but then later beating yet another seed I just started to cry with happiness.”
“My ambitions for next year will be to perform well in the British Junior Open taking place in Sheffield.
“I will also aim to get my ranking within the top five in the country throughout the year.”
