HAMPSHIRE Golf Club has presented a cheque from a year’s worth of fundraising at the club to Macmillan Cancer Support.

The presentation of £10,600 was made by the 2015 club captain Barry Thorne and 2015 seniors captain Alan Dixon MBE to Macmillan’s Lisa Murphy and Rachel Docherty.

The two captain’s joined forces at the start of last year and a varied calendar of events saw the total grow and grow.

Both captains thanked all the members, their family and friends, the club and local businesses for the generosity shown by all.

Macmillan Cancer Support’s Lisa Murphy said: “The total raised by the club has been amazing, this money will make a huge difference to local people affected by cancer.

“In 2014 we gave people living in Hampshire grants totalling over £131,000.

“This fantastic donation would be able to support 35 average grants.

“These grants support the people affected by cancer and their families with everyday needs such as heating costs, travel to hospital, respite break and so much more.”
