WHITCHURCH Manager Carl Bennett says he is hoping to “get one over” Bemerton Heath Harlequins boss Graham Kemp for their earlier defeat this season when the two sides go head-to-head on Saturday.

The Jam Boys coach was disappointed to see his side narrowly lose out 1-0 to the Harlequins back in January in what he described as “a 50/50 game”.

And Bennett is hoping for a slice of revenge when United host Bemerton on Saturday in the Wessex Premier League.

He said: “That was a difficult one to take because it was probably the most even game we’ve had all season.

“They won by a bit of magic in what was a really tight match.

“I’d like to win this one and get one over on Kempy for that.”

However Bennett is under no illusions that it will be a tough ask for his side on Saturday, with Bemerton currently six places above them in the league.

“It’s always a tough game when you are playing a Kempy side but I think we can match them if not beat them and get the win on Saturday.”

Whitchurch go into the game off the back of a tough Easter weekend schedule which saw them travel away from home twice in three days to face opposition ranked higher than them in the table.

United faced Moneyfields on Thursday night and managed to rescue a point with the last touch of the game when Ali Brown bundled a corner home to secure a 2-2 draw.

Whitchurch had initially gone 2-0 behind after goals from Daniel Gauntlett and Nathan Paxton but an 80th minute penalty by in-form Rudy Plummer put Moneyfields on edge.

A spate of time wasting by the home bench forced the referee to add seven minutes of injury time onto the game and it took all seven minutes for Whitchurch to steal an equaliser.

A last second corner by goalkeeper Brad Snelling came into the path of Brown who knocked the ball over the line to secure a late point.

United then travelled to Hamworthy on Saturday but could not reenact their Easter miracle despite another late scramble.

The hosts went 1-0 up after ten minutes through Jack Satterley before Matt Kemble doubled their lead shortly before half time.

Plummer struck in the 80th minute to give the visitors hope of another late equaliser.

However this time Whitchurch could not muster a goal in the dying minutes as Hamworthy ran out winners.
