RELEGATION threatened Whitchurch United battled out a 2-2 draw with Team Solent on Saturday.

David Reading and Craig Smith were both on target for the Jam Boys, who were aiming for back-to-back league wins in the Wessex League Premier after their previous victory over Bemerton.

However goals-a-piece from Solent's Oluwatori Adekunle and Jamel Wiseman forced a share of the points at a cold Longmeadow.

The point moves United up a place to 20th, five points ahead of bottom side Verwood Town.

Whitchurch are also now level on points with Cowes Sport, but remain behind the Yachtsmen on goal difference.

United host Hampshire League side Winchester Castle in the Andover Open Cup on Wednesday night.

They return to league action with a game away at 17th placed Fareham on Saturday.
