LONGPARISH won their local derby clash with visiting Andover II, writes CHRIS DE CANI.

The home side won the toss and in bright sunshine opted to bat.

Michael Taplin and Dan Bearpark swiftly put on 56 for the first wicket before Taplin fell to the bowling of Babu Veettil for 41.

Veettil (5-54) and Richard Tayler bowled a parsimonious spell taking 2-17 from his 10 overs as Longparish closed on 235-9.

Steady drizzle set in at tea and Andover II found batting difficult with the top five in the batting order all falling for ducks.

Luke Andrew 21, Pat Case 23 and Taylor 25 mounted some late resistance but three wickets each for Jack Levy and Harry Griffin secured a 45 run win that lifts Longparish to sixth in the Hampshire League County Division One and leaves Andover II in a battle to avoid the drop.

In Division Four, Longparish II secured an impressive three wicket win away against Tichborne Park II, where Barry Blackmore starred with the ball taking 4-14.

Longparish III look to be returning to Regional Division Two North West, after a tough season in .

They lost their latest game against a strong Andover III side by 10 wickets, after being bowled out for 51, as Soulter 5-17 and McMahon 5-33.
