Round Three of the Hants, Wilts and Dorset Winter League was fished at Witherington Farm last weekend on the Inner and Outer Snake Lakes.
Once again with carp only showing in areas this was a hard fought match. Andover AC's Keith Theobald was their top man on the day winning his section with 33lb 7oz, giving him six section points. Also scoring good section points on the day were Dave Hydes and Ian Ross, both with five points. Ian is up to 12th in the league and has got through to round four of the knockout which is to be fished at Kings, Willow and Embley this weekend.
Andover are now fifth in the league with 94.5 points.
Mike and Andy Berntsen, fishing for Garbolino Blackmore Vale, both won their sections on the day - Mike with 15lb 2oz and Andy with 32lb 4oz. With their team gaining another four section wins Blackmore won on the day and took top spot in the league with 130 points. Mike is in eighth individual place with 14 points and three matches to go.
While the ten man match team were fishing the Winter League the rest of the match crew fished round three of the Autumn Series at Greenridge Farm. Fished on lakes two and three it was tough going with some wishing to go home by lunch time. All toughed it out until the end and as the sun shone the fish began to show.
Team Pink's Dawn Flemington was one of those ready to chuck it in with three hours gone and only two fish in the net. Chucking in a good pot full of bait paid off as with a sudden spurt of carp Dawn won the match with 42lb 12oz trouncing the rest of the field.
Second was Tony Pratten with 21lb 10oz and third was John Wellock with 18lb 3oz. This was the final match in the well attended Autumn Series with Dawn and Tony finishing joint top with ten section points. Dawn wins it overall on a higher weight caught advantage.
In other news Andover AC's prolific pike venue, Anton Lake has been fishing well with many mid doubles being caught. Best dead baits have been smelt, spratts and lamprey section ( no live baiting allowed ). Day tickets are available from Challis Tackle in Mylen Road and John Eadie Sports in the town centre at £5 for a one rod day ticket or £7 for a two rod day ticket.
