Andover racing drivers made the long haul to Snetterton in Norfolk at the weekend.
Simon Tilling was in the Radical Club Cup, Dawn Boyd in the Mini Challenge and David Hickton in the Group 1 Touring Cars.
The circuit is just under two miles in length and Saturday's weather was bright sunshine with Sunday a mixtures of sunny spells and cloud. Simon was first to race and having put his radical on the grid in fifth place out of 23 cars had two races within two hours of each other. He made a great start and soon settled in the pack at the front of the 20 minute race in his new car and he brought it home in third place.
His second race was interrupted by two safety car incidents and was eventually was finished early with Simon sixth.Dawn had one race on Saturday afternoon and two on Sunday and having qualified towards the back of the grid made a clean start but the car wasn't performing as it should and she was started to lose speed. Eventually she finished 20th meaning the car would be looked at overnight.
Sunday morning brought a disaster for Dawn who only managed a couple of laps due to mechanical problems. For her last race she got some good fast racing laps under her belt and came home in 16th place overall. Dawn will travel to Pembrey in Wales in a couple of week's time looking for a better weekend.
David put his Opel Ascona on the grid in seventh out of 18 cars then had the best part of a 24 hour wait after qualifying before he raced. His 15 minute race was on a dry track and he was in a gaggle of cars towards the front driving well within himself. He ccompleted ten laps and took the chequered flag in sixth position.
