Despite early morning rain, the track and outfield were a picture at Collingbourne for the Wiltshire League fixture with Seagry.
Will Tidmarsh the Seagry captain won the toss and not unexpectedly decided to bat on a good looking pitch which looked full of runs. Seagry started very slowly with only eight coming from the first five overs of tight bowling by the teenage opening pair of Ollie Scott and Charlie Knight. Scott bowled through to take 2-30 off 12 overs and his younger partner Knight bowled eight overs for just 18 runs.
Seagry continued to struggle against the change bowling of debutant Vaughan Brown reaching 30-2 off the first 15 overs. Things really took off when Brown went around the wicket taking a hat-trick in his ninth over and virtually finished off the innings with amazing figures of 5-33 in his first game for the club leaving Seagry 110 all out in 39 overs.
In complete contrast the Collingbourne innings set off at Twenty-20 type pace with 73 from ten overs. Unfortunately Tom Grant was out just short of yet another well deserved 50 on 47 off 29 balls hitting nine fours. Skipper for the day Graham Chandler (38 not out, also containing nine fours) continued his steady progress partnered by Geoff Rogers (19) and hitting the winning runs in the 17th over for a comprehensive eight wicket victory and 23 league points keeping Collingbourne top of Division Three.
