Arms race ahead as Queen lose again

WITH seven matches played for the majority of the league teams there are only four teams left with 100 per cent records in the Andover Pool League.

Southampton Arms A continued their push towards the Z Factor sponsored Premiership title with a 7-2 win over the Swallow. They are now eight points in advance of second placed Queen Charlotte who suffered their second successive loss, this time 5-4 to the Southampton Arms B.

The top two meet up next week and the onus will be on the Charlotte to close the gap. QCC's had an excellent 8-1 win at the Royal Oak.

In Division One the QC Leftovers won the top of the table clash with Anton Decs 5-4 leaving them well in control. The rest of the league would appear to be well matched up and it will be interesting to see who comes out of the pack to challenge at the top. New Street stay at the bottom.

The Bell are leading the way in Division 2 following a top versus second win against the Folly. It could be another straight promotion for the Bell, whose players regularly feature in the hot shots. Division Three has the Abbots Ann team still with a perfect record following a 5-4 win over the Play Station. They remain a massive 17 points ahead of the Southampton Arms D who themselves had an excellent 5-4 win at Broughton FC.

In Division Four the Swallow Flyers remain top with a 5-4 win over Ploughin On and still have a game in hand of their closest rivals. Forester Faithfuls remain firmly adrift at the bottom. Castle Jousters maintained top spot in Division Five and kept up their 100 per cent record.

APA chairman Peter Young would like to thank everyone who turned up for the recent race night. The evening raised £400 which will go towards staging the Andover Open. The closing date for entries to the Open is Thursday February 18.
