Andover 3 Woking II 1.
Andover hosted bottom club Woking II and were hoping to continue their current form.
Simple mistakes kept them from creating much of their own in the first 20 minutes and the visitors eventually broke the deadlock when Rob Oostendorp’s attempted block deflected in. This stirred Andover who were unlucky not to go into the break level when brilliant skills from Jamie Hacker saw him beat the last few defenders only for the keeper to make a good save.
The second half saw a transformed Andover go straight on the attack and they were rewarded early with a goal from a short corner. Hacker found Richard Moore who slotted home from an acute angle. With the home side’s tails up Woking struggled as Andover were camped in their opponent’s half.
From another short corner Tim Lomas was on hand to collect a rebound and score. Woking pushed hard to find the equaliser but were caught out by a swift counter and good movement and passing in the middle found Lomas in the D, and he made no mistake to bag his second.
Andover sat back for the last ten minutes but the defence held strong and the side are now unbeaten since the Christmas break and are beginning to make ground.
