Littleton and West Hill v Whitchurch.

Like all local clubs, Whitchurch have been a victim of the weather with only a narrow one wicket defeat against local rivals Overton to show for their league campaign so far this season.

This lack of match practice was really shown up when they visited Littleton in the County 3 (North).

After electing to bat on a soft pitch the home side made a slow start against some good bowling from James Hayward and Eddie Treble.

Hayward finished his ten over spell on 0-26 and Treble 0-22 and the score had reached 66 in 25 overs when Craig Paddy made the breakthrough having Walker caught in the gully by Kev Ralph for 16.

Dibben (60) and Louth (106 no) then put on a partnership of 101 before skipper Tom Trinder (1-24) had Dibben caught on the boundary by Damo Hack.

Ralph (1-48) also picked up a late wicket as the home side reached 211-3 when their innings closed.

Louth hit five sixes and 11 fours but Whitchurch did not help themselves as they dropped four important catches.

The reply started disastrously as D Walker (5-30) and M Dibben (2-22) ripped through the top order and reduced them to 42-7 with only Jeff Williams (16) reaching double figures.

Paddy with 25 led a fightback of sorts but it was left to Hayward to really show the batsmen the way.

The big fast bowler really put the bowling to the sword – hitting nine fours and two sixes in an innings of 67 as he took Whitchurch to 129 all out and defeat by 82 runs.
