Box v Collingbourne .

Box won the toss and elected to field first due to the pitch softening because of an overnight thunderstorm.

After losing an early wicket Cameron Wright and Mark Douglas made the conditions look easy as they took Collingbourne to 118-1 from 22 overs with Douglas registering 53 and Wright 46. Unfortunately, a Collingbourne Collapse occurred and a failure to deal with spin meant eight wickets were claimed in 13 overs for 30 runs. Thankfully all-rounder Tom Pike found some much needed support in number 11 Jamie Stamp as Collingbourne finished on 167 all out when Pike was finally bowled for 25.

Feeling that the score was about 30 runs short Collingbourne attacked early on as Jon Candler claimed a wicket in the first five overs. Box recovered and started to score runs at a good rate taking 100 from the first 20 overs but as the Collingbourne bowlers were shuffled spinner Pike finally started to find his line claiming two catches and a stumping.

Runs slowed up as the overs started to run out but unless Collingbourne could claim wickets Box were always favourites to reach the required total, which they did with three overs remaining.

Collingbourne II v Box II.

Collingbourne II went down with a bit of a whimper compared with last week’s heroics.

Losing the toss on a road Box had no hesitation in electing to bat and although the run rate was kept under control the first wicket didn't come until the 22nd over. John Aitken bowled a controlled spell without any luck (12-3-25-0) as the batsman gave no chances as the score increased to 144-2.

Harry Wilde (2-28) and Billy Brett bowled well at the death to restrict Box to 201-6 from their 45 overs when a score of 250 plus was looking on the cards.

Collingbourne’s innings got off to a quick start with new boy Karl Wilson hitting a rapid 19, but as with most of the top order he got out just as he got in. The only batsman to make a score was Will Atkinson who, opening the batting played a rock of an innings for 44, when he was sixth man out with the score on 118. In the end Collingbourne limped to 135 all out with 7.2 overs remaining.
